The smallest Scandinavian country, Denmark, has 500 islands, 1,000 lakes, a nearly 450,000 ha forest, which offer a diverse landscape and quite a contrast to the lively cities and their cultural highlights. The country is surrounded on three sides by the sea and a total of 7,000 km of coast, approx. 5,000 km of which are suitable for bathing – nothing stands in the way of a relaxing and varied holiday! !
Hovedstaden Region Hovedstaden, which includes both the capital Copenhagen and the island Bornholm, comprises the north-eastern part of Zealand Island and the country’s eastern region. With over 1.6 million residents and approx. 30 % of the entire population, Hovestaden is the most densely populated region in Denmark, concentrated on only 6% of the country’s area. In addition to the pulsating metropolitan life in Copenhagen, visitors can experience endless dream beaches and Denmark’s typical wide landscape.
Region Zealand The Danish Region Zealand is composed of the same-named Baltic Sea island and the neighbouring islands of Lolland, Falster and Møn. The special mix of lively cities, such as the regional capital Sorø, situated on a type of island between several lakes; gorgeous sand beaches, which are among the cleanest and most child-friendly in Europe; and the islands’ rich cultural heritage, particularly influenced by the Viking era, make Zealand an exciting and diverse holiday region.
South Denmark South Denmark is made up of the southern part of Jutland, as well as several islands – the fishing and sailing paradises Langeland, or Denmark’s third-largest island, Fyn. The capital of this Danish island world is Vejile, with approx. 100,000 residents.
