France is made up of varying landscapes, which as a whole are known in French as l’Hexagone. The Parisians believe that their city is the hub of the country and the rest is nothing more than “provinces”. Truth be told, France is a country with such a plenitude of landscapes, regional traditions and culture that it is impossible to get a true picture of the country with just one trip. What is, however, characteristic of all regions, is the care-free spirit, which has been assumed by other languages; “savoir-vivre”. Whether a road trip through the countryside, in a holiday home by the sea, on a long bike ride or travelling on a houseboat through Burgund – there are an abundance of moments to enjoy in France.
Atlantic Coast: One of the longest and most attractive coastlines in France is situated in the southwest of the country. The Atlantic Coast is well-known for its fine sandy beaches, which are also wide. Not forgetting the powerful waves, too. For this reason, the area is known as Europe’s surfing paradise. Other scenic attractions include the large lakes and pine forests behind the dunes.
Côte d'Azur and countryside: Côte d'Azur refers to the Mediterranean coast between Marseille in the west and Menton on the Italian border. This term has become a synonym for sun, sea, sand and holiday fun. Côte d’Azur also has countless picturesque towns and villages inland, which invite you to ramble through this magnificent region. Further inland the Département Bouches-du-Rhône connects to quaint areas and diverse scenery. .
French Alps: The Trois Vallées (Three Valleys) is most well-known as one of the world’s largest connected ski areas. However, the French Alps are a great summer destination with impressive panoramic views, numerous hiking paths and fantastic mountain air.
